A Story from the Flip Side

To balance out my crabby mothering post from yesterday, I'll share a story from this morning.

Ella found a book about shoe tying that I'd bought at a rummage sale a few months back. I didn't realize it, but she'd taken the book downstairs, put on her shoe, and was trying to master the art of tying it by herself. Imagine! She came upstairs all excited to say she had done it but that it had come undone. Now, I was on the verge of being late for work, but I sat on the floor with her for a moment and worked on it with her. Five minutes later, she had it! She tied her own shoes this morning!

It was definitely worth being a few minutes (only five!) late for work.
