In Which I Become My Father

Today, Ella received a progress report from school. There were six different categories with possible ratings of "Outstanding," "Satisfactory," and "Needs Improvement."

Ella received all Satisfactorys. And my first reaction was: "Why did she not receive Outstandings? She's not working up to her potential!"

Yes. I know. She is three. Reality check.

But just so you understand where this comes from: When I was five, I was so proud that I could count to 100. But when I did it for my dad, all he said was "Why can't you count to 200?"

Sorry, Ella! Blame Grandpa Donnie Boy!
